Fire Department to Carry Oxygen Masks Designed for Cats & Dogs

Hiram, Georgia – Today Paulding County Fire & Rescue announced it has received a generous donation of pet oxygen masks from Project Paws Alive. This includes enough supplies to outfit every emergency response vehicle in the county. The masks are specially designed to fit pets, and they will be used for resuscitation after a dog or cat is rescued from a fire.

According to Mrs. Lois Diehl, who spearheaded the fundraising effort, “I couldn’t be happier how this will facilitate life-saving equipment for the pets of Paulding County. As well, I couldn’t be more pleased at how receptive and willing Paulding Fire & Rescue was in working at every step of this fundraiser. There couldn’t be a better example of how our Fire department and local residents have joined together to bring an important service to our community.”

635870598176402734-chihuahua2Chief Joey Pelfrey added, “It is amazing to see such generosity and hard work among citizens in Paulding County. We are gratified to receive this donation and look forward to adding pet oxygen masks to our other emergency medical equipment. Thanks especially to Mrs. Diehl for making this a reality.”

On Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at 2:00pm there will be a brief ceremony recognizing all of the donors and to officially place the masks in service. The program will be held at Paulding County Fire Station #2, located at 535 Seaboard Avenue in Hiram, and is open to the public.

Giving Tuesday – Helping Working K9s

GT-K9What is #GivingTuesday? We have a day for giving thanks. We have two shopping days for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

It’s a simple idea. Just find a way to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Please join us and be a part of a new nationwide movement to draw awareness to nonprofits.

Today we ask you to consider purchasing one of our K9 Hero Dogs or making a donation to help provide vital protective equipment to Law Enforcement, Fire, Search & Rescue, and Military K-9s. K9 Units are typically classified as non-essential teams and therefore receive little or no budget. Many are run solely on donations received from nonprofits such as ours, and many of them cannot accept direct donations. They rely on us for items such as K9 first aid kits, bullet and stab-protective K9 vests, K9 cooling vests, K9 heat alarms and more.

Picture1K9 Hero Dogs can be purchased directly on our PPA Shop page and are tax-deductible.

Donations can be made online via our Donate buttons or mailed to our office at Project Paws Alive, 1911 Grayson Highway, Suite 8-158, Grayson, GA 30017.  All donations are tax-deductible as we are registered 501c3 nonprofit and we do participate in corporate matching and grant campaigns.

For other ways to join us, volunteer or help please see our “How You Can Help” page.

On behalf of the Law Enforcement, Fire, Search & Rescue, and Military K-9s benefiting from your support, I wish to extend my sincerest appreciation and invite you to stay connected with us to watch how your contributions are having life-saving effects on the working K9s in your community.

Best Regards,Lakota Kit

Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit Fundraiser at Gwinnett Center Pet Expo

10325536_423731231097162_3590583253400747778_nProject Paws Alive, a local nonprofit, is hosting a fundraiser for the Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit during the Atlanta Pet Expo at the Gwinnett Center. The Police K9s will be at the Project Paws Alive booth throughout the day and a special K-9 unit demo will take center stage.

Donations will be accepted at the Project Paws Alive booth and there will be various fundraiser items available from t-shirts to stuffed police dogs, as well as several raffles for gift baskets sponsored by Kong Dog Toys, Pooch N Paws Pet Boutique, and Taj Ma Hound Pet Bakery.

The purpose of the fundraiser is to purchase protective equipment for the K9s including; custom K-9 bullet & stab-protective vests, specialized K-9 first aid field trauma kits, and military-grade K9 cooling vests. The Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit consists of 10 K-9s along with their officer handlers who serve on both the patrol and SWAT units. The K-9s specialize in narcotics, tracking, detection, and patrol work.

The fundraising event will be held at the Project Paws Alive booth during the Atlanta Pet Expo at the Gwinnett Center located at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, Georgia 30097 on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 10am to 6pm. Admission and parking are free. Pets are permitted and there will be entertainment, contests, food, and activities throughout the day as well as over 100 additional pet related vendors in attendance. The event is indoors and is climate controlled.

K-9 Units are typically classified as non-essential or specialty units and therefore do not often have the ability to purchase these costly items. The majority of public service agencies cannot accept direct donations. Project Paws Alive accepts donations and fundraises to provide vital K-9 equipment to agencies in need. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to provide this protective K9 equipment to all the K-9s on the unit.

GwinnettK9GACan’t attend the event, but would like to support the fundraiser? Tax deductible donations are welcome via our website at www.ProjectPawsAlive.org or can be mailed to Project Paws Alive Inc. at 1911 Grayson Hwy, #8-158, Grayson, GA 30017.
