HELP K-9 UNIT GET VITAL EQUIPMENT!

Project Paws Alive, a non-profit organization, has kicked-off its fundraising effort to provide vital equipment for the Linton, Indiana Police K-9 Unit. The equipment needed for the units are K-9 oxygen recovery mask kits, K-9 Field Trauma kits, and K-9 Overdose kits.

The Linton Police Department consists of two K-9 teams certified in narcotics, tracking, area search, building search, article search, obedience, and aggression. The two Linton PD K-9s are Luke and Charlie who are partnered with Officers Michael Watts and Thomas Jerrels.

This equipment will greatly assist both Officers and K-9s. Due to the small size of the city, there is no 24hr vet and should something happen to one or both K-9s, the officers would have about a 45 minute drive to the closest 24hr vet. This equipment could  potentially save the life of either K-9 while protecting the community’s existing investment in the K-9s.

The Oxygen Mask Kits to be presented by Project Paws Alive for the K-9 Unit are high end kits which come with 3 different size masks that can be used on dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and more. These durable polycarbonate masks feature dual vents and a rubber mounted 22mm oxygen adapter enabling unrestricted inhalation and exhalation of air. These specially designed animal masks can be used for multiple uses including dyspnea, and on both conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to the dangerous toxic fumes. The professional overdose kits are in case the K-9s ingest narcotics, and the Field Trauma kits serve as first aid for police K-9s to handle any type of injury from snake bite to gunshot wound. Accompany these kits is a first aid training video to ensure the right care is provided at the right time.
